Madurai: The Madurai City Police have denied permission for a planned Hindu Munnani protest in Thiruparankundram, citing law and order concerns. They also issued a public advisory against participation in gatherings related to the issue.
According to a police statement, recent tensions over the Thiruparankundram Hill Dargah led to multiple cases being registered at the local police station. Several related petitions are also pending before the Madurai bench of the
Madras high court.
Despite the ban, authorities noted that Hindu Munnani members were mobilizing support through social media and public announcements. Police warned that any attempt to hold an unauthorized protest would result in legal action.
"To maintain public order, permission for the protest has been denied. Any violations will be dealt with as per the law," the statement read.
