MANGALURU: Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader, along with Dakshina Kananda SP Yathish N, on Wednesday, visited the house of the businessman where imposters claiming to be Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials allegedly robbed a family of nearly Rs 25 to Rs 30 lakh recently.
During the visit, the investigation progress was reviewed, and the Speaker, along with the SP, held a meeting with the family members regarding the case.
Later, Khader told reporters that the police department intensified the investigation using advanced technology and is conducting a high-level probe. He stressed that the cooperation of the family and the local community was essential.
Four teams led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) were already formed, and these teams are operating in various states, including Kerala. He expressed confidence that the police would nab the accused at the earliest.
Bantwal DySP Vijay Prasad S, along with officers from Vittal police station, family members and Jamiyyatul Falah Bantwal unit President Rasheed Vitla, were present.
It may be recalled that six unknown persons arrived in a Tamil Nadu-registered car, introduced themselves as ED officers, and informed the complainant that they had orders to search the house.
They entered the house and confiscated five mobile phones belonging to the family members before conducting a search of the premises. During the search, the accused reportedly took approximately Rs 25 to Rs 30 lakh, kept in the complainant's father’s room for business purposes, from a cupboard.
