The mayor, along with standing committee members, visited the site and promised to take appropriate action.
It was brought to the notice of the mayor that students and the public are crossing the road even during heavy traffic since the place lacks proper barricades on the dividers, posing a danger near the Clock Tower. The unscientific design of the road divider led to many vehicles crashing into it, causing damage. Additionally, the divider from Mangaluru University College to the Clock Tower lacks proper barricades, showing negligence. This invites accidents and caused concern for university students, patients visiting Wenlock Hospital, and daily commuters, citizens blamed.
Mayor Manoj Kumar, speaking to the media, assured that appropriate measures would be taken. In the coming days, barricades will be constructed, and the area will be made into an attractive spot. Deputy mayor Bhanumathi PS, standing committee chairpersons Veena Mangala, Manohar Shetty and Sumithra Kariya were present.
