Carter Rd upgrade plan presented to walkers & joggers
Mumbai: On Saturday morning, walkers and joggers along Bandra's Carter Road were shown a presentation on plans to transform the popular promenade, focusing on greenery, cleanliness, and security.
Additions like a pathway canopy, lighting, and an entrance area distinguishing it from other parts of the promenade were also discussed. Citizens were asked for their suggestions on the plan.
There were also discussions on having plants, namely snake plant, peace lily, and spider plant, along the promenade to purify the area, and a patch of sensory garden that stimulates the five senses: sight, smell, sound, touch, and taste.
Mooted by the local MLA Ashish Shelar of the BJP, he said that the idea was to revamp it and yet keep it minimalist and simple so that those coming for walking and jogging aren't distracted. "Residents were shown and informed about what I had in mind so their suggestions could also be incorporated into the plans. As they are locals, they would surely have value to add, and hence we opened it up," he said.
The Carter Road Promenade is a popular seaside walkway in Bandra West, running along the Arabian Sea. It stretches for about 1.25 km, parallel to Carter Road, and is an extension of the Bandstand Promenade. The area is known for its picturesque views, jogging tracks, and vibrant social scene.
