Govt buildings should be electrified with solar energy: Ajit Pawar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme aims to electrify all government buildings in states with solar energy by 15th December 2025. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar mandates immediate implementation for the remaining buildings and ensures project quality, with periodic reviews every three months.

MUMBAI: As per the appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and as per the guidelines given under the ' PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme ' of the Central Government, a target has been set to electrify all government buildings in the states through solar energy before 15th December 2025.
Accordingly, it is necessary to electrify all government buildings in the state through solar energy and this is an important initiative under the government's 100-day program.
Accordingly, deputy chief minister and Finance and Planning Minister Ajit Pawar has directed that all government buildings should be electrified through solar energy within the prescribed time frame.
A meeting was held in the committee room of his ministry under the chairmanship of deputy chief minister Shri. Pawar regarding the electrification of government buildings in the state through solar energy.
Deputy chief minister Shri. Pawar said , so far, solar rooftop projects have been implemented on 1157 government buildings in the state. However, these projects should be implemented immediately on the remaining 332 government buildings. A meeting will be held every three months to review this. He instructed the Energy Department to start the electricity meter on the same day the panel is installed on the building. He also directed that the work being done under this scheme should be of better quality and standard.
On this occasion, a review of the solar projects being implemented on government buildings in Pune district was conducted through the District Planning Department. Deputy chief minister and guardian minister of Pune district, Mr. Pawar, also gave instructions to provide immediate funds for the pending projects through the District Planning Committee.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of Planning Department and Development Commissioner Dr. Rajagopal Deora , Additional chief Secretary of Finance Department Omprakash Gupta , Additional Chief Secretary of Energy Department and Director General of General Energy Mrs. Abha Shukla , Additional Director General of General Energy Dr. Trigun Kulkarni , Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi (via video conferencing system) and all the concerned officers of Energy and Finance Department.
