MUMBAI: Four individuals lost their lives, and nine others sustained injuries when a state-operated bus collided with a truck in
Maharashtra's Nashik district on Tuesday morning, according to police reports.
The bus, operated by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), was carrying 45 passengers and heading towards Nashik city from Chandwad town when the accident occurred around 9.30 am.
A police official stated, "The driver of the bus lost control while trying to overtake the truck and rammed into it from behind."
Two passengers were declared dead at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a hospital where they were rushed following the accident.
The police official further added that nine other passengers are currently in critical condition and receiving medical attention at both government and private hospitals in Nashik. The incident has left the local community in shock and highlights the need for increased road safety measures in the region.
