HDK criticises state for not cooperating in development initiatives
Mandya: Union minister HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday criticised the state govt for not engaging with him on the state's development with the Union govt, which, he said, affected its growth.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Sri Ankanathadevasthana temple in Kanaganamaradi, Pandavapura taluk, he compared the lack of cooperation from the state govt, with the proactive approach of other states like Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand. He said, Congress leaders may accuse him of lacking the courage to discuss matters with the Prime Minister, but people of Mandya gave him the strength to engage with all leaders, and highlighted his efforts to revive the Bhadravati Steel Plant with significant investments.
He also criticised Congress for its 50-year rule and questioned their contributions to the state, pointing to the Cauvery water issue. He expressed outrage over migrant worker deaths, blaming the govt for its inaction and urged the state to regulate microfinance companies exploiting vulnerable people. He promised to assist anyone facing distress due to microfinance harassment, and said suicide is not a solution.
