MYSURU: A Kerala-based confectionery businessman was robbed of his four-wheeler on the outskirts of Mysuru city early Monday.
The incident occurred when a group of robbers, travelling in three four-wheelers, forced the businessman's moving vehicle to stop near Gujjegowdanapura in Jaypura hobli, Mysuru taluk.
The miscreants allegedly assaulted and threatened the occupants before forcibly removing them from the vehicle and driving away with their four-wheeler.
Sources claimed that a dashboard camera in a vehicle following the businessman's car captured the entire incident.
Mysuru district superintendent of police, N Vishnuvardhana, confirmed that officers responded immediately after receiving information through the police control room and visited the spot to investigate the matter. The incident occurred at approximately 9.15 am within Jaypura police jurisdiction on January 20.
The SP said that the car driver sustained injuries to one hand during the assault by the gang, and police teams have been formed to investigate the case.
Authorities are currently recording an FIR based on the statement from the Calicut (Kozhikode) businessman.
The SP replied that they are still awaiting details regarding the exact monetary loss incurred during the incident and to know whether the gang used any weapons during the robbery.
