Operation to rescue tiger under way in Badagarakeri
Madikeri: Foresters launched an operation to rescue a tiger in Badagarakeri after the big cat attacked livestock.
In Badagarakeri village, within Birunani gram panchayat limits, the tiger attacked a farmer's livestock, resulting in the deaths of 12 goats and seven calves.
The tiger attacked the goats owned by Dinesh during the night. Dinesh explained that carcasses were found along the plantation trail where the tiger dragged its prey. He requested the foresters to extend compensation.
Forest officials visited the location and initiated efforts to track the tiger. Ammatthira Rajesh, Birunani GP president, inspected the site and urged immediate action from the forest department to capture the tiger.
Meanwhile, wild elephants were seen in Badagarakeri village, with herds spotted on the main road on Saturday. The elephants moved near the Sri Mrityunjaya Temple towards Birunani main road, damaging coffee plantations en route. The elephants later moved towards Theralu village.
