Statue installed without permission removed
Mysuru: A bronze statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda was installed in the early hours of Saturday at Kempegowda Circle near Lalitha Mahal Palace on T Narasipura Road.
As the statue was installed without obtaining any permission from local authorities, city police arrived at the spot and even attempted to remove the statue. However, the members of Vokkaligara Sangha insisted that the police should not remove it.
A few months ago, members of the Sangha installed the statue overnight, leading to controversy. It was removed with the intervention of MLAs Harishgowda and TS Srivatsa, as they promised to install the statue after obtaining the necessary permission from Mysuru City Corporation. However, early on Saturday, the statue was found installed again.
A senior police officer told TOI there is no objection to the installation of the statue at the circle, which has been named Kempegowda Circle.
