Chief secretary Sujata Saunik visits Regional Forensic Science Laboratory
Nagpur: Maharashtra chief secretary Sujata Saunik recently visited the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) in Nagpur. She commended the lab's mobile forensic van initiative, which has been scaled up statewide.
The lab's deputy director, Dr Vijay J Thakare, briefed Saunik on the lab's various investigations, including cybercrime and wildlife cases. He informed her that the lab handles around 40,000 cases annually, with 300 involving animals and wildlife.
Saunik interacted with the lab's staff and reviewed the ministry-level work related to the lab's empowerment. The lab's mobile forensic van initiative, which originated in Nagpur, has been expanded statewide, with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis providing five new vans for Nagpur.
