Nashik: Two cars, a motorcycle and an autorickshaw parked along the streets were torched by unidentified people in three separate incidents over Friday and Saturday. Police have registered cases against unidentified people under section 326 (damage to property) of the BNS.
The incidents took place late at night within the jurisdictions of Mumbai Naka, Mhasrul, and Panchavati police stations. A 51-year-old resident of Peth Road stated in his complaint with the Mhasrul police station that his car and motorbike, which he had parked outside his house, were torched by some unidentified person at 3am on Saturday.
According to the complainant, he and his family members were asleep in their house when some unidentified person, for no reason, put some inflammable material on his vehicles and then set them on fire. By the time the fire was noticed and put out, the blaze had caused substantial damage to the vehicles.
On the same night, an autorickshaw was torched in the Panchavati area. The Panchavati police, citing the complaint registered with them by the 34-year-old owner of the vehicle, said the autorickshaw had been parked outside the complainant's house on Friday night. At 5am on Saturday, the owner found that his autorickshaw was completely damaged by fire caused by some unidentified person. The owner said that the auto was worth roughly Rs 60,000.
Moreover, a car was set on fire in the Bajrangwadi area of Mumbai Naka on Friday morning. The owner of the car stated that his hatchback was set on fire around 3am. The car, which was properly secured, was parked outside the house. An unidentified person doused the car in petrol and set it ablaze.
The back-to-back incidents of vehicles being torched by unidentified people have raised concerns among vehicle owners who leave their parked along the streets.
