A 23-year-old motorcyclist, Sonu Dhotre, was tragically killed in Nashik after being struck by a length of nylon manja, which slit his throat, causing him to fall. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.

NASHIK : A 23-year-old youth riding a bike lost his life when a length of nylon manja slit his throat while travelling from Pathardi Phata to Vadner in Nashik city at 9:30 am on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Sonu Dhotre, was employed in Gujarat and came to Nashik to visit his sister.
While riding his bike on the Pathardi Phata - Wadner road, he encountered a nylon manja near Nirmal Baba Darga that slit his throat, causing him to fall from his motorcycle. Local residents rushed him to Nashik civil hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Family sources revealed that the incident occurred just a few kilometres from his residence. He came to visit his sister for the Makar Sankranti festival. Dhotre, who worked as a driver in Gujarat, was set to marry in May.
Many people in Nashik have suffered injuries from nylon manja this year. On account of the same, the police have started taking strict action and are registering cases of attempt to commit culpable homicide punishable under Section 110 of the BNS. Over Saturday and Sunday, more than 50 such cases were registered.
Fathers of nine minors, who were found using nylon manja while flying kites, were also arrested by the police. The city police recently externed 75 people who were found selling nylon manja.
