NOIDA: Residents of Raj Nagar Extension (RNE), home to nearly 2 lakh people, have voiced concerns over the lack of essential civic amenities, including clean sewers, proper waste management, wellmaintained roads, and adequate public infrastructure. The area continues to grapple with the absence of a dedicated bus service, public toilets, a govt hospital, and a community centre.
“Rajnagar Extension reeks of apathy from the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). Despite being the primary agency for development, GDA has failed to ensure basic cleanliness. Streets in RNE are littered, and every road, except for the bypass, is riddled with potholes,” said Amit Kumar Tanwar, former AOA president of Ashiana Palm Court. He added that since he moved to the area in 2011, internal roads have rarely been cleaned.
Tanwar also pointed out that parks, public toilets, and a community centre remain long-pending demands of residents. “The sewers are never cleaned, and garbage is a common sight, especially near Jyoti Super village,” he said, highlighting the dire state of waste management.
Residents are still waiting for the promised Ganga water supply, which would reduce dependence on groundwater, the primary source of water in RNE. They have urged the GDA to expedite development work similar to its projects in Madhuban Bapudham and the proposed Harnandipuram.
“A solid waste management unit near the STP is the need of the hour. We also request that GDA hand over basic services in RNE to Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) for better management,” said Tanwar. He noted that several people purchased flats in RNE expecting development around the UPCA cricket stadium, inaugurated by chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
When approached, GDA officials shifted responsibility to GNN, but no response has been received from the latter. Meanwhile, newly appointed district assured that all development works will remain a key focus during his tenure
