PATNA: A three-member team of the Rajasthan commercial taxes department (CTD) on Friday started the study of innovations and best practices methods being implemented by the Bihar CTD for tax collection and augmentation under the goods and services taxes (GST) regime.
While the
Rajasthan CTD team is led by special commissioner (enforcement) Utsav Kaushal, the two other members are additional commissioner (enforcement) Shalin Upadhyaya and joint commissioner (enforcement) Tarachand Meghwal.
The Rajasthan study team was informed through PowerPoint presentation about the innovations and best practices methods developed and put in practice for tax augmentation in the service sector, Bihar CTD commissioner-cum-secretary Dr Pratima said. She said on the directive of Bihar CTD minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, the department concentrated on the service sector for tax augmentation, like on such activities as real estate, banking, insurance, telecom, e-commerce, marriage and banquet halls, coaching institutes, among others. Even the Centre recognised it as the best practices, she added.
Besides, through the presentation and discussion, the Rajasthan team was enlightened about the working methods, innovations and best practices developed in tax administration in Bihar.
Among other aspects, they were informed about data analysis and enforcement in such sectors as real estate, telecom, insurance, banking, coaching institutions, banquet halls and activities under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. On the occasion, the Rajasthan team informed about the best practices methods back home and also said the exchange of best practices methods helps in revenue augmentation.
