Pune: Social activist
Anna Hazare, the former mentor of Delhi's ex-chief minister
Arvind Kejriwal, on Saturday said the
Aam Aadmi Party's downfall was brought by its flawed liquor policy to bring money.
Hazare spoke to the media at his village Ralegan Siddhi in Ahilyanagar district, amid the announcement of the Delhi assembly election results. It is the same village where Kejriwal held multiple meetings with the activist when he got associated with the India Against Corruption movement before floating his own party.
"He (Kejriwal) held the first meeting in Delhi with the intention to enter into politics and form a new party.

He invited all those who were interested in joining him. Since I never wanted to join any party, I stayed away from it. When he formed the party, people trusted and supported him. Later, however, he started promoting liquor and went after money," Hazare said.
According to the activist, a candidate's integrity and moral character play a crucial role in earning voters' trust and support. "I repeatedly told him (Kejriwal) about the virtues of candidates, but he did not pay any heed to them. He promoted the liquor policy, which has drowned him and his party today," Hazare said.
"Serving people without expecting anything in return is like worshipping the god. He did not understand it, which led to his downfall," the activist added.
