After K’taka win, state Cong gears up for 2024 LS poll
Ranchi: The party’s recent victory in Karnataka assembly elections has lifted the spirits of the leaders and office-bearers of the Jharkhand unit of the Congress party.
With an eye on the Lok Sabha elections next year, the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee has embarked on a mission to strengthen the party’s organizational capabilities at the grass-root level in the state.

“The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) was reconstituted in January this year after a gap of six years. The party has already constituted its district committees. Now, the focus is intensified further on block and booth levels,” Jharkhand Congress spokesperson Rakesh Sinha said on Friday.
The party said it has selected more than 30,000 workers across Jharkhand over the past few months for appointing them in ward and booth-level committees.
“Jharkhand Congress president Rajesh Thakur has begun touring the districts and taking stock of the organizational capabilities while meetings the district committees. So far, he has travelled across six districts. Meetings are scheduled in Deoghar, East and West Singhbhum, Khunti and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts in the coming days,” state Congress spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said.
Notably, the party had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in alliance with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and fielded candidates in seven seats. However, it only managed to win one seat (Singhbhum, of which Geeta Kora is the MP).
“It has become clear after the Karnataka assembly election that the entire country is looking up to us. The people are angry over the policies and decisions of the BJP government at the Centre. Since we are a part of the incumbent coalition government in the state, our responsibilities have also doubled,” Thakur said.
