From humble beginnings to leading milk producer: An inspiring journey of Satendra Singh
Satendra Singh (55) has become a role model in Mayurhund and across the state as a prominent milk producer. His achievements were recognised by former chief minister Raghubar Das in 2018. Currently managing 16 cows that yield 1.5 quintal of milk daily, Singh's monthly earnings exceed Rs 80,000.
In a conversation with TOI, Singh revealed that his previous income from a village grocery shop was insufficient for his family's needs, including his wife, three daughters and a son."I thought to do something else to support my family and for this I found dairy business best for me. In 2012, I started this work by purchasing two cows. My wife Rubi Devi also supported me and soon demand of milk started growing so one after another, I kept purchasing cows, he said. Now I have 16 cows," he said.
In 2018, Das acknowledged Singh's accomplishments in Ranchi, presenting him with a certificate and Rs 8,300 cash for being the leading milk producer in Chatra district.
Singh successfully arranged his elder daughter's marriage and supports his other children's education in Ranchi through this enterprise. He emphasises that anyone can begin with minimal investment, though it requires dedication from early morning until 8 pm for cow care. The venture has enhanced his income, supported his family, and brought recognition.
Daily, Megha dairy collects one quintal of milk from Singh's residence, while he sells the remaining to local customers.
