Lohardaga Cong MP made CPP convenor for 5 eastern states
Gumla: Congress Lohardaga MP Sukhdeo Bhagat has been appointed as the convenor of Congress Party in Parliament (CPP) state committee for five eastern statesJharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and West Bengal.
Bhagat's rapid ascent to a national leadership role as a first-time MP is attributed to his exceptional performance. He is the only freshman parliamentarian to be designated as a convener for five states.
Party sources said that Bhagat's selection was based on his contributions in the Lok Sabha and his articulate presentation of party positions on national television channels.
As convener, Bhagat will focus on strengthening the organisation by coordinating with Congress MPs from these states. His role includes ensuring better parliamentary performance and adherence to legislative practices among the MPs from the five states.
Recently, Bhagat was also appointed to the parliamentary standing committee for coal mines and steel ministries and the joint parliamentary committee (JPC) reviewing the One Nation One Election Bill. Expressing gratitude to the party leadership, Bhagat told TOI, "I'm very thankful to Rahul Gandhi ji, party president Mallikarjun Kharge ji, and others for deeming me worthy of this responsibility."
"I will strive to fulfill the faith placed in me by the party high command," he added.
The appointment marks a significant milestone in Bhagat's political career and reflects the Congress leadership's confidence in his capabilities to strengthen the party's presence in the eastern region.
