Ranchi: Suspended
IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan on Thursday filed a petition before the special PMLA court, seeking permission to meet his advocate, wife and child twice a week.
Ranjan’s advocate made a verbal request in this regard when his client was produced by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) before the court on Thursday.
However, the ED special public prosecutor,
Shiv Kumar, opposed the request, saying the provisions should be according to the jail manual.
Ranjan is currently lodged in the Birsa Munda Central Jail in connection with the land scams in Ranchi district and money-laundering case.
The 2011-batch IAS officer of the Jharkhand cadre was arrested late on May 4 evening and taken into ED custody, after he was interrogated for around 10 hours.
Two days after his arrest on Saturday,
Ranjan was suspended by the state government .
