SHILLONG: An all-party meeting on Friday decided to constitute a committee to examine the roster system on job reservation and put on hold issuing new advertisements for government jobs for the time being, chief minister
Conrad Sangma said after chairing the meeting.
The CM said the roster allows for a particular post meant for a certain community to go to a member of that community itself.
He, however, said the ongoing recruitments would continue and the appointments would be made according the existing roster.
"In order to ensure that all the concerns are clarified, a committee chaired by health minister Ampareen Lyngdoh will be set up with members from various political parties," he said.
"Considering the suggestions of the members of different political parties, the government has agreed to put on hold all new job advertisements till the committee gives its final report," he said.
"A detailed presentation on the roster system was given to members of different political parties. In the meeting, most political parties were satisfied with the details presented and concerns were also raised and clarifications were sought on the subject," the CM said.
