Shimla: Mountaineer rescued from Kinnaur pass

A female mountaineer who was injured at 17,320 feet high Lamkhaga Pass, located between Chhitkul in Kinnaur and Gangotri in Uttarakhand, was rescued by the jawans of 4 Assam Regiment.

Bimla Devaskar was safely brought down from high mountain pass to the nearest Army Hospital where she was provided first aid.
SHIMLA: A female mountaineer who was injured at 17,320 feet high Lamkhaga Pass, located between Chhitkul in Kinnaur and Gangotri in Uttarakhand, was rescued by the jawans of 4 Assam Regiment. Bimla Devaskar (54) from Maharashtra was part of an 11-member all-women mountaineering team led by renowned mountaineer and Padma Bhushan awardee, Bachendri Pal (67).

According to information provided by the Kinnaur administration, Devaskar was injured on Tuesday after she slipped at Lamkhaga Pass. A rescue team of 4 Assam Regiment launched the rescue operation and brought Devaskar safely down from the high mountain pass and took her to the nearest Army hospital, where she was provided first aid and then shifted to Regional Hospital Reckong Peo in Kinnaur.
Under the PM’s Fit India Mission, a team of 11 women mountaineers above the age of 50 had set out on the Trans Himalayan Expedition on March 12 from Pang-Sau Pass (3,727ft) in Arunachal Pradesh. The expedition will end at Tiger Hill in Ladakh after 5 months, after crossing a distance of 5,000km and 37 mountain passes through Arunachal, Assam, West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
