NEW DELHI: Four individuals lost their lives when their vehicle veered off the road, tumbled down a hill, and plunged into a river in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, according to police reports.
Two people, including the driver, remain unaccounted for, and rescue operations are currently underway. The incident occurred in the Paddar area, a police official confirmed.
The type of vehicle involved in the accident has not yet been identified by authorities.
Expressing his condolences, Udhampur MP and Union Minister Jitendra Singh conveyed his sorrow over the tragic loss of life.
"Deeply saddened to learn that four passengers travelling in the vehicle have been found deceased at the scene. Two others, including the driver, are yet to be located. My heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved families," Singh wrote in a post on X.
The minister further stated that he had immediately contacted Kishtwar's Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, upon receiving news of the incident.
"Rescue teams have been deployed and are actively working. I am receiving regular updates on the situation," Singh added.
