Wellness expert wins Rs 1.1 lakh against banking giant in Thane

A wellness expert successfully challenged a multinational bank for improper credit card blocking, leading to a Rs 1.1 lakh compensation. The Thane District Forum directed the bank to pay for deficient services and mental harassment, highlighting lapses in KYC compliance and customer communication.

Thane school founder arrested for repeated rape of teacher since 2015

A 54-year-old school founder in Thane was arrested for allegedly raping a 42-year-old teacher since 2015, exploiting his authority. The victim claimed he extorted money and made false promises of securing her job. The accused faces multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and police are continuing to investigate.

In Vasai, four individuals, including ex-Shiv Sena corporator Swapnil Bandekar, were arrested for allegedly extorting a developer. The accused demanded Rs 10 crores, later reduced to Rs 1.5 crores in instalments. Himanshu Shah was caught accepting Rs 15 lakhs as the first instalment, leading to the arrests at a Mira Road hotel. They face charges under BNS section 308 (2).
