Thiruvananthapuram: Five individuals sustained stab wounds during an altercation that occurred inside a beer parlour located in Kazhakkootam on Saturday night, according to police reports.
The incident took place just after 11.30pm on Saturday, following a confrontation between two groups, as stated by the police.
Based on preliminary information, police revealed that a group of young people had intended to celebrate their friend's birthday by cutting a cake, but another group attempted to intervene.
Sreekaryam residents Shalu, Sooraj, Vishak, Swaroop and Athul were stabbed and are admitted to the Medical College hospital here.
Police said the condition of one person is serious. "Three of the accused are in custody. The search is on for the rest of the accused," police added.
