Modi govt favoring Adani, ignoring Manipur: KPCC
Thiruvananthapuram: Under Narendra Modi's administration, the country's wealth is being handed over to corporate giant Adani, alleged KPCC president K Sudhakaran on Wednesday.
Sudhakaran was speaking at the inauguration of KPCC's Raj Bhavan march to protest against Centre's inaction in probing cases linked to Gautam Adani and associates.
"Modi's govt is one that bows to Adani. There is no investigation into the financial-stock frauds and corruption by Gautam Adani and his associates. Instead, Adani is being given all protection. Modi and BJP are more interested in giving away the country's wealth to Adani than solving the problems of the poor. Adani acquires each contract by paying crores in bribes to ministers and officials. The US department of justice filed cases against Adani and his associates. Yet, Centre does not lift a finger against Adani because they are benefiting from it," he said.
"Despite Manipur burning for last 18 months, the Prime Minister has not turned his attention there. The Prime Minister, who travels around the globe, is not ready to visit Manipur. The BJP-ruled central and state govts are not ready to restore peace there. In 2004, when violence occurred, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh personally visited Manipur and resolved the issue," said Sudhakaran.
Speaking on the occasion, opposition leader V D Satheesan said that Modi govt is supporting Adani in looting the nation's public assets. "Adani's wealth has grown by billions under Modi's rule. Shares of Adani's companies, worth not even a hundred rupees, were inflated and invested through paper companies abroad," alleged Satheesan.
BJP-ruled state govt is aiding the violence against minorities in Manipur, Satheesan said. "Weapons are being provided to the attackers from govt's armoury. BJP leaders who come to Christian homes with cake and wine during Christmas should be asked about the ongoing genocide in Manipur," he said.
