Christian outfits in Trichy, Madurai condemn violence in Manipur
Trichy/Madurai: Condemning the violence against Christians in Manipur and appealing for an end to the ongoing riot between the ethnic Kuki and Meitei communities in the state, various religious organisations and associations held meetings and demonstrations in Trichy and Madurai.
In Trichy, the Federation of all Diocesans conducted a meeting, where Bishop Rev A Christian Samraj of the Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church (TELC), Bishop Rev D Chandrasekaran of the Church of South India (CSI) for Trichy and Thanjavur, and Bishop Rev S Arockiaraj of the Trichy diocese addressed the gathering.

The bishops expressed concern that Christians and their institutions were being targeted, resulting in over 50,000 people from the Kuki communities becoming refugees. Rev Sister Paulin Mary and Kavignar Nandalala, the state deputy general secretary of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Association spoke.
In Madurai, the St Lourdes Church Catholic Association held a demonstration at St Lourdes Annai Church, demanding the central government take action to restore peace in Manipur.The Catholic association in Madurai condemned the violence and expressed solidarity with the people of Manipur. They held a demonstration with black flags inside the church premises, led by parish priest George.
