BIJAYNAGAR (AJMER): Asserting that his revolt in 2020 against CM Ashok Gehlot's leadership and his perceived petulance were matters of the past, former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot on Thursday urged the people of the state to vote for Congress and ensure the party repeats its government in the state.
"Raat gayi, baat gayi (The night has passed, and so have the issues).
1x1 polls
You have to make sure again that Congress works for your welfare," said Pilot at a farmers' rally at Bijaynagar town in the newly formed Beawar district. He said this in his address when his supporters shouted slogans asking why he was not made the chief minister. Pilot also inaugurated welfare schemes for Masuda state assembly constituency and gifted tractors to the farmers.
Attacking the central government, Pilot said, "BJP knows that when elections come, its leaders will come and deliver speeches, taking the names of temples and mosques. The youth are not getting employment in central government, and inflation is rising in the country. The central government has done little for society. It was the Manmohan Singh government that brought MGNERGS and many other welfare schemes."
Pilot said while in a democracy, the Opposition plays an important role, BJP has failed even as an Opposition party in Rajasthan. "In December, there will be elections in Rajasthan, and I feel history will be written when Congress repeats government in the state. That will be because Congress has worked hard and the party's members prod the ministers to get the work done of roads, drinking water, schools and so on," he added.
Praising local MLA Rakesh Pareek of Masuda, Pilot said he is happy that schemes of the state government have reached the people. The 'kisan mahasammelan' was attended by many local leaders and people from the rural areas of Ajmer district. Pilot was welcomed at many places during his travel from Jaipur to Bijaynagar. Large crowds waited on the roadsides for a glimpse of the Tonk MLA.
Bijaynagar, the site of the farmers' gathering, is an important place as the support of the Gujjars plays decisive roles in elections in the belt, said Congress sources.
