Vadodara: The detection of crime branch (DCB) on Sunday arrested a man allegedly involved in more than 54 offences in Vadodara and Surat. The accused, identified as Sherusingh Sikligar, was nabbed by the police from the Warasia area based on a tip-off. The cops said Sikligar was on his way to sell the stolen valuables when they intercepted him.
The police found gold and silver jewellery along with cash worth about Rs 2 lakh from the accused, who didn't have any receipt for the valuables. When questioned further, Sikligar admitted to stealing the valuables and cash from four different houses in the last month. He also stole a car from the city.
Crime branch officials said Sikligar was involved in burglaries and thefts over the last 20 years, and he often joined different gangs to commit offences. Sikligar first stole vehicles and used them to travel through the city to commit burglaries.
