VADODARA: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) may take a lesson or two from Indore regarding cleanliness and solid waste management. A team of elected representatives and officials visited Indore to understand the system there.
Indore has topped the Swachh Bharat rankings for six times in a row.
The city, which is much larger than Vadodara has become a model that many want to follow.
1x1 polls
VMC functionaries including standing committee members spent two days trying to study how Indore had managed to remain on top over the years.
The name of Indore was mentioned repeatedly recently when a ruling BJP corporator Ashish Joshi alleged irregularities in the door-to-door waste collection system in the city.
Joshi and even others were of the opinion that the civic body should visit Indore and take lessons from officials there.
Vadodara was ranked eighth in the Swachh Bharat rankings in 2021, but slipped to the 14th position in 2022. It was expected that the city would retain or improve its ranking in 2022, but this did not happen.
