VISAKHAPATNAM: Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (MGCHRI) received the prestigious Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI) award for excellence in healthcare.
Dr Murali Krishna Voonna, Managing Director of MGCHRI, said MGCHRI was recognised by the AHPI in the category of "patient-centric organisation" for its cancer care excellence by keeping patients at the centre stage.
The award underscores the institute’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional cancer care and advancing the healthcare landscape in Andhra Pradesh and beyond, keeping patients and their families' well-being in mind.
He said that the award resonates with the World Cancer Day theme 2025 and is also supported by the results of the recent national survey of hospitals, which ranks MGCHRI as the best in Andhra Pradesh, 12th place in South India, and 23rd rank in India, he added.
Marking World Cancer Day on February 4, MGCHRI will be organising a Cancer Awareness Walk in Vizag city. Dr Murali Krishna Voonna said more than 3,000 people from various medical colleges, hospitals, and organisations will participate in the cancer walk.
It is a huge need and responsibility to raise awareness of the disease and to develop strategies to reduce the burden of cancer, he added.
