Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the Haryana assembly elections 2024. The 90-seat assembly election will take place in a single phase on October 1. The deadline for submitting nominations is September 12, with scrutiny of nominations scheduled for September 13. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until September 16.
Haryana has a voter population of 2.01 crore, with 1.06 crore male voters and 0.95 crore female voters. Among them, 4.52 lakh are first-time voters, and 40.95 lakh are young voters. The Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and Chandra Shekhar Azad's Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) have formed an alliance for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. In the 2019 Haryana assembly elections, the BJP secured 40 seats, becoming the largest party, while Congress won 31 seats. The Jananayak Janata Party (JJP), led by Dushyant Singh Chautala, won 10 seats and later supported the BJP to form the government. The current government's term will end on November 3, 2024.
