JHARKHAND EXIT POLLS

Jharkhand's assembly elections are taking place in two phases, with the final results to be announced on November 23, alongside Maharashtra's result. The first phase took place on November 13.

The polling stations will operate from 7 am to 5 pm on Wednesday. In 31 specific polling booths, voting will conclude at 4 pm, though voters already queuing at closing time will be permitted to cast their ballots.

Following the completion of voting, attention will shift towards the exit poll forecasts for Jharkhand, which will offer insights into the potential formation of the state's next government.

The exit poll results are anticipated to emerge after 6 pm, following the conclusion of voting in Maharashtra. In Jharkhand, the electoral competition is primarily between the JMM-led INDIA alliance and the BJP-headed National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The 2019 assembly elections resulted in a close contest, where JMM secured 30 seats whilst BJP obtained 25, reduced from their previous 37 seats in 2014. The JMM-Congress-RJD coalition achieved a clear majority by winning 47 seats.

With polling for the Jharkhand Assembly elections now complete, attention shifts to the much-anticipated exit polls, expected to provide the first glimpse into the likely outcome of this high-stakes political battle.

The elections, conducted in two phases, saw the second phase conclude today, covering 38 constituencies out of the state’s 81-member Assembly. The results are scheduled for November 23, coinciding with the Maharashtra Assembly results.

As per Election Commission guidelines, exit polls in India can only be released after all voting phases conclude to prevent influencing voter behavior. With Jharkhand's polling now over, these polls are expected to dominate political discussions until the official results are declared.

Both alliances will keenly await the exit poll projections, which could hint at whether Jharkhand's voters have decided to back continuity or opt for change.
