The candidate count has risen 28 per cent compared to the 2019 state assembly polls, reaching 4,136 from the previous 3,239. Independent candidates account for 2,086 of the total contestants. More than 150 constituencies feature rebel candidates, where members from both Mahayuti and MVA are challenging their party's official selections.
Official records as of October 30 show 9,70,25,119 registered voters, comprising 5,00,22,739 males, 4,69,96,279 females, and 6,101 transgender individuals. The electoral roll includes 6,41,425 PwD (Persons with Disabilities) voters and 1,16,170 service voters from the armed forces. The number of polling stations has increased to 1,00,186 from 96,654 in the 2019 assembly elections.
The expanded voter base necessitated these additional polling stations.
Approximately six lakh state government staff will manage the electoral process. Following the implementation of the code of conduct on October 15, authorities have confiscated cash and goods valued at Rs 252.42 crore through various enforcement operations under central and state government schemes.
