Critics Choice Awards Complete Winners' List: 'The Substance', 'Wicked', 'Emilia Perez' dominate but 'Anora' babs Best Picture
The 30th annual Critics Choice Awards saw Wicked, Emilia Perez, and The Substance emerging as top winners, with each film scoring three wins on Friday night. However, the top honour of Best Picture went to Anora in a surprise win.
Wicked and Conclave, which entered the night tied with 11 nominations each, claimed victories in Best Director for Jon M. Chu, as well as Best Costume Design and Best Production Design, while Conclave won Best Ensemble and Peter Straughan’s picked up the award for Original Screenplay.

Neon’s Anora, which had seven nominations including Best Actress for Mikey Madison and Best Director and Original Screenplay for Sean Baker, ultimately took home only one award—the coveted Best Picture prize. The Critics Choice Awards, hosted by Chelsea Handler for the third consecutive year, have traditionally served as a strong predictor for the Oscars. Last year’s Best Picture winner at the Critics Choice Awards, Oppenheimer, went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, raising anticipation for Anora's Oscar prospects.
Emilia Perez, which started the evening with 10 nominations, also won three awards, including Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldaña, solidifying her as a frontrunner in the Oscars race. The film also secured Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song (El Mal performed by Saldana, Karla Sofía Gascon, and Camille). Gascón, nominated for Best Actress, did not attend the event amid controversy over past social media posts.
In the acting categories, the Critics Choice Awards followed expected trends. Demi Moore won Best Actress for The Substance, Adrien Brody took home Best Actor for The Brutalist, Zoe Saldana earned Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Perez, and Kieran Culkin won Best Supporting Actor for A Real Pain.
A Real Pain also won Best Comedy Film, tying with Disney/Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
Other double winners included Amazon MGM’s Challengers, which picked up awards for Best Score and Best Editing.
On the television side, Shōgun emerged as the top winner with four awards, including Best Drama Series and Best Actor in a Drama Series for Hiroyuki Sanada. HBO | Max’s Hacks won three awards, including Best Comedy Series, Best Actress for Jean Smart, and Best Supporting Actress for Hannah Einbinder.
Colin Farrell won Best Actor in a Limited Series for The Penguin, adding to his Golden Globe win. His co-star Cristin Milioti also won Best Actress. However, Best Limited Series went to Netflix’s Baby Reindeer, which also earned Jessica Gunning a win for Best Supporting Performance.
