The historically phenomenal track ‘Renegade’ from Jay-Z’s album ‘The Blueprint’ has been a classic for more than two decades. Eminem, the only star who Jay-Z collaborated with in the album, signed a contract for ‘Renegade’, which has been now enlisted for sale!
The extremely rare piece is up for $35,000 and is signed by both rappers with their official names ‘Shawn Carters’ aka Jay-Z, and ‘Marshall Mathers’ aka Eminem. Notably, they signed the contract 10 days before the record hit every record store, radio station, and the hearts of their fans, according to the TMZ.
The 14-pager contract is on the website of ‘Moment In Time’ as a ‘Unique contract signed by Eminem and Jay Z’. The latter’s Roc-A-Fella Records partnered up with Eminem’s Angry Blonde Productions. When Jay-Z asked Eminem, the only collaborator, to contribute a hand to the album, Eminem planned to give him a whole another series of beats. However, he did not have access to the recording reel. Eminem, in the vision of giving the track and not running out of time, changed the direction and offered ‘Renegade’ instead of the original track. After Royce’s blessing to change his voice, Jay-Z replaced it with his verses, and the Real Slim Shady remixed the entire track, according to the Hindustan Times.
‘The Blueprint’ album was released on the black day of America, September 11, 2001, which did not stop it from getting critically acclaimed and hitting the charts. The record earned perfect scores from The Source, XXL, and Vibe Magazines, eventually getting preserved in the Library of Congress. Not only did the track help Eminem to gain street credibility, but it also helped Jay-Z to be crowned as ‘The King of Rap’. After things settled down from the attacks, the rappers performed ‘Renegade’ on the rooftop of ‘The David Letterman Show’.
