Throwback: Shahid Kapoor on arranged marriage with Mira Rajput – ‘You come with no expectations’

When Shahid Kapoor appeared on Koffee With Karan in 2017 alongside his wife, Mira Rajput, he shared why he was a strong supporter of arranged marriages. The couple, who tied the knot in 2015, had an unconventional love story—Shahid, a Bollywood star, and Mira, a Delhi University student, met through their families and quickly formed a connection.
Speaking about his belief in arranged marriage, Shahid had said, “I am a very huge supporter of this arranged marriage format because I think the graph for an arranged marriage is you come with no expectations and then if you hit it off, every day gets better than the previous one.” He explained that unlike love marriages, where expectations can sometimes lead to disappointment, arranged marriages allow partners to grow together organically.
Shahid and Mira’s wedding was an intimate affair, but their first public appearance as husband and wife made headlines. Shahid introduced Mira to the world by sharing a selfie with her on social media, captioned simply as "#hitched." Over the years, the couple has become one of Bollywood’s most adored pairs, sharing glimpses of their life together.
On their fourth wedding anniversary, Shahid posted the first-ever picture of Mira that he had saved on his phone. Expressing his love, he wrote, “Her first picture I saved on my phone. And now almost every second picture has her in it. She is #life.”
