The Le Gala des Pièces Jaunes charity concert recently took place at the Paris La Défense Arena, featuring renowned artists like BTS’s J-Hope, BIGBANG’s G-Dragon and Taeyang, BLACKPINK’s Rosé, Katy Perry, John Legend, J Balvin, and Burna Boy. The event, aimed at raising funds to support hospitalized children and teens, marked J-Hope’s first live stage performance after completing his military service.
J-Hope opened the concert with a three-song set, delivering energetic performances of hits like On the Street from his 2024 mini-album Hope on the Street Vol. 1 and More from his solo debut album Jack in the Box. Despite his electrifying act and immense crowd support, BTS fans (ARMY) expressed disappointment over how the event organizers treated the artist.
Fans took to social media, calling the organizers "biased" and "disrespectful." Many noticed that J-Hope’s name was omitted from the initial list of performers announced during the event. They also highlighted incidents where the event host reportedly ignored BTS fans holding lightsticks and appeared dismissive of J-Hope’s fandom.
One fan shared their frustration on social media, accusing the host of showing favoritism toward BLACKPINK’s Rosé. Another detailed how the host interviewed fans of other artists while ignoring ARMYs, who made up a significant portion of the audience.
Despite these incidents, J-Hope received immense love from the audience, with ARMYs chanting his name and turning the gala into a mini BTS concert. Videos of his performances and the crowd's enthusiastic responses quickly went viral, proving the artist’s global impact.
While the event aimed to unite fans and artists for a noble cause, the alleged bias left many ARMIEs feeling disheartened. J-Hope, meanwhile, is gearing up for his much-anticipated solo tour, Hope on the Stage, which promises to showcase his exceptional talent on a global scale.
