Malayalam film 'Aadujeevitham' enters Oscars race: Competes in best picture category at 97th Academy Awards"

Blessy Ipe Thomas’s film 'Aadujeevitham' has made a significant mark by being selected in the initial round for the 97th Academy Awards, competing in the general category for Best Picture. This recognition is notable as Indian films are typically considered for the International Feature Film category, making it rare for an Indian film to be included in the general category.
Voting for the nominations will commence on January 8, 2025, and will conclude on January 12, 2025. After the voting period, ten films will be shortlisted based on the voting percentages. The final nominations will be announced on January 17, 2025. Previously, another Malayalam film, '2018', reached the preliminary round but did not advance further.
'Aadujeevitham', also known as 'The Goat Life', is based on a popular novel by Benyamin and features Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role as Najeeb. The film has already garnered critical acclaim and won seven state awards, including Best Actor for Prithviraj.

'Aadujeevitham' stands out among other Indian films in the Oscar race for several reasons. The movie tells the story of a goatherd named Najeeb, who faces harrowing challenges as an Indian migrant in the Gulf.
The film has received widespread acclaim since its release, becoming one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films and winning multiple awards at the Kerala State Film Awards, including Best Director and Best Actor for Prithviraj Sukumaran.
