When Naga Chaitanya revealed his ex-wife Samantha Ruth Prabhu threatened him as he delayed revealing their relationship to his parents

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya’s love story captivated their fans, and their separation continues to resonate as a heartbreak. The couple fell for each other during the making of the 2010 film ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’ and married in 2017. Unfortunately, they made their split official in 2021, which left fans devastated. But did you know that Samantha once gave Naga Chaitanya an ultimatum about telling his family about their relationship?


In an old press meet, Chaitanya recalled the time when he was hesitant to inform his family about the couple's blossoming romance. As reported by The Indian Express, despite Samantha’s repeated insistence, Chaitanya hesitated to disclose the relationship. What ultimately prompted him to share the news with his parents was a warning from Samantha herself. The ‘Citadel “Honey Bunny” actress had threatened him, saying she would tie a ‘rakhi’ on him if he didn’t open up to his parents about the relationship. Chaitanya, in a past conversation with a publication, said, “Her threat took me by surprise, and soon after, I spoke to my parents about her, securing their consent.”
Fans of both actors started speculating on the reasons behind their divorce as they did not reveal the cause. Many criticised Chay for his recent marriage to actress Sohita Dhulipala on December 4, 2024.
Meanwhile, Samantha was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, myositis, a year after the separation.

On the work front, Naga Chaitanya is gearing up for the release of his next film ‘Thandel’ alongside Sai Pallavi, which will hit theatres on February 7. The film marks their second collaboration after 'Love Story' where their chemistry was well received by the fans. The story of 'Thandel' is inspired by a real-life incident from 2018, when fishermen from Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, accidentally drifted into Pakistani waters during a fishing trip and were subsequently detained. Chay will be seen playing the role by the name Raju and Sai will be seen playing a crucial role as Raju's girlfriend.
Samantha will next be seen in a Telugu movie ‘Maa Inti Bangaram’ and a web series ‘Rakt Brahmand’ alongside Aditya Roy Kapoor. Samantha's previous outing was the Hindi web series 'Citadel: Honey Bunny' which was directed by Raj & DK'. ETimes review for the Varun Dhawan starrer reads, "Varun Dhawan shines as the fiercely loyal and misguided Bunny. The duo pulls off slick stunts with elan and do well as fellow spies, despite their chemistry as a couple leaving much to be desired. Kay Kay Menon as a manipulative spy is outstanding. Child actor Kashvi Majmundar, who plays the young Nadia, is impressive as the brave, fearless, and sharp girl, laying the foundation for Priyanka’s main lead in the franchise. Citadel: Honey Bunny boasts impressive action sequences and a talented cast, but falls short in certain areas, including the plotline and pacing. It's not the most binge-worthy series in this genre you will find out there, but for action lovers, there's ample to keep you engaged."
