NEW DELHI: Bhiwani–Mahendragarh is one of the 10 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in
Haryana. It is a General category parliament seat. The constituency encompasses a significant portion of the Bhiwani district and the entirety of the Mahendragarh district. The formation of this constituency was a result of the efforts to redraw the boundaries of electoral districts in order to ensure fair representation and equal population distribution among the constituencies.
The constituency was formed in 2008, following the implementation of recommendations made by the Delimitation Commission of India, which was established in 2002.
The new constituency was created by combining four assembly segments from the former Mahendragarh constituency, namely Ateli, Mahendragarh, Narnaul and Nangal Chaudhry and five assembly segments from the erstwhile Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri constituency, which include Loharu, Badhra, Dadri, Bhiwani and Tosham.
According to the 2011 census, Bhiwani district has a population of 1,629,109 while Mahendargarh had population of 922,088. Average literacy rate was 77.72.
Schedule: Date of voting and resultThe 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Bhiwani–Mahendragarh will be held on 25th May (Phase 6). The counting of votes will be on June 4.
Candidates:Dharambir Singh, the incumbent, is seeking re-election from the Bhiwani-Mahendragarh constituency in the upcoming polls. His main rival is Rao Dan Singh, the sitting MLA from Mahendragarh, who has been nominated by the Congress party. Jannayak Janata party (JJP) announced Rao Bahadur Singh as party candidate from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh parliamentary seat.
Main parties:In the 2019 General Assembly elections, Dharambir Singh Chaudhar of BJP won with 736,699 votes. He defeated INC's Shruti Choudhry with a margin of 4,35,262 votes.
