NEW DELHI: The Centre has nominated former
Orissa high court chief justice S Muralidhar and sitting Punjab and Haryana high court judge, Justice Arun Palli as members of the National Legal Services Authority.
The law ministry notified the nominations on October 31, along with nominations of senior advocates from Supreme Court, Bar Council of India and academicians.
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud is the patron-in-chief of National Legal Services Authority (Nalsa), while Justice SK Kaul, the second senior most judge of Supreme Court, is the executive chairman. National Legal Services Authority’s state chapters provide free legal services to the weaker sections of society and organise lok adalats for amicable settlement of disputes.
