Why should you skip henna on hair during winter?

Skipping henna is a sane choice during winter as the cold paste, waiting time, and rinsing out can lead to intense cold and cough. But, there’s something more to it.

Henna or mehendi is used by men and women both throughout the year to hide their greys or to probably keep the same hair colour all around the year. It is one of the best home remedies for hair colour that is made of all-natural ingredients and mostly suits all hair types. However, we all have heard to skip applying henna during winter. It is said that cold weather makes it difficult to apply, keep, and rinse, leading to getting a cold or cough. However, there’s more reason for it.
Winter calls for harsh weather with dry and flaky skin, and henna leads to further drying out of your hair which is already prone to the cold weather. This could exacerbate the issue leading to intense flakiness and dandruff issues. Even though it is natural, it can create a dry effect on your hair and you would see no change even after oiling and using a moisturising shampoo. Thus, try to use hair masks in such weather instead of using henna that would make your hair soft, and shiny, and masks also lock in your natural hair colour.

However, if you still wish to apply henna in the winter season, then follow these basic steps that will keep your hair moisturised and also would shield you from the cold.
1. The paste of henna remains cold, therefore, you can add cups of lukewarm water accordingly, and two teaspoons of aloe vera gel, with 2-4 cloves that would prevent cold and cough, and the aloe vera would work as a healthy moisturiser.

2. Simply add a pinch of camphor and some fenugreek powder, that would prevent your hair from turning white for a long period of time, if you wish to skip henna powder during winters.

Bottom line
However, henna is an ideal choice to add some colour to your hair. It strengthens the hair and conditions it too, but for a dry scalp, henna might lead to dry and brittle ends. The natural properties of henna usually seal the moisture into the hair shafts in winter, but fighting off the dryness under cold weather can be a task.
