Union Budget will be presented on February 1

On February 1, the Union Finance Minister will present the budget for the country. Earlier it was presented on February 28 or 29, but in 2017 the date was changed to Feb 1 to improve financial planning.

Budget will be presented 11 am onwards

2001 onwards the budget presentation timing was shifted from 5pm to 11 am ending a colonial era practice. Later the date was shifted to February 1.

In 2021, breaking away from the practice of carrying budget documents in a briefcase, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the first-ever paperless budget. She used a digital tablet wrapped in a traditional 'bahi-khata' style pouch.
