Conor McGregor inks preliminary deal with Ambani family for Logan Paul showdown in India

Conor McGregor is set to return to combat sports, not in the UFC, but in a boxing exhibition match against Logan Paul in India, backed by the Ambani family. This marks McGregor's first fight since his losses to Dustin Poirier in 2021 and his second boxing venture after the Mayweather bout.

Noted MMA fighter Conor McGregor on Tuesday cleared the sporting world by dismissing rumours of a fight with Ilia Topuria. Instead, he has revealed early discussions for an exhibition bout against YouTuber-turned-boxer Logan Paul. McGregor suggests that India’s Ambani family might organise the event.
“The rumours of a bout with Topuria are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon,” McGregor posted on X.

This potential match-up has generated considerable buzz, even without confirmation from Logan Paul or the Ambani family. A McGregor-Paul fight in India could give a significant boost to the country's combat sports scene and mark McGregor's return to the boxing ring.
McGregor has also expressed his intention to return to the UFC Octagon following the boxing exhibition. Fans have eagerly awaited his comeback since he broke his leg in his fight against Dustin Poirier in 2021.
This prospective bout would mark McGregor's return after two successive losses to Poirier in 2021. He was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June but withdrew due to injury.
McGregor is currently dealing with legal issues, having been found liable for assault in a civil rape case, which resulted in an order to pay over $262,000 in damages. These legal matters have significantly impacted his public image and career trajectory.

McGregor's UFC return remains uncertain, with UFC CEO Dana White hinting at a possible comeback in 2025.
For Logan Paul, this fight would be the biggest of his career. Having successfully transitioned into boxing and WWE, Paul has previously fought Floyd Mayweather and defeated Dillon Danis in 2023.
Paul’s experience in crossover boxing makes him a significant opponent for McGregor. The bout is expected to attract substantial interest from both boxing and MMA fans.
McGregor's previous boxing match against Floyd Mayweather was a globally publicised event. His potential fight with Paul is expected to generate a similar level of attention.
The combat sports community is now waiting to see whether India will host this high-profile boxing exhibition. While details remain unconfirmed, a McGregor vs Paul showdown would undoubtedly capture the imagination of fans worldwide.
