India's cue sports witnessed remarkable achievements over the past year, with emerging talents joining established players, whilst
Pankaj Advani maintained his exceptional supremacy in the sport. Advani's remarkable legacy expanded further as he secured his 28th IBSF World Billiards Championship title.
The success story encompassed other notable players including Kamal Chawla, Brijesh Damani, Dhruv Sitwala and Anupama Ramachandran. Additionally, Mumbai's promising talents Kreishh Gurbaxani and Ishpreet Chadha secured spots in next year's world pro circuit.
Whilst Advani triumphed over England's Robert Hall in the World Billiards Championship final in Doha in November, he faced disappointment in the Asian Billiards Championships final.
The English Billiards final saw fellow Indian Sitwala prevail over Advani in a closely contested match that witnessed numerous momentum shifts. Advani's journey in the tournament had earlier faced challenges, particularly during the group stage match against Siddharth Parikh.
Advani's Continued ExcellenceDespite occasional setbacks, Advani remained the sport's leading figure globally, accumulating more accolades. His victory in the IBSF World Billiards Championship marked his seventh successive title in the competition.
Earlier, Advani secured victory in the NSCI Baulkline 3.0 All India Snooker Open, defeating Chadha 10-3 in the final.
Representing ONGC, Advani also claimed the Western India Billiards and Snooker Championship in August, following an intense seven-hour battle against Railways' Kamal Chawla at Khar Gymkhana's billiards hall, securing a 6-4 victory.
The Bengaluru-based champion's performances in Mumbai have been particularly noteworthy, with seven consecutive titles - four in snooker and three in billiards - over the past two years.
