Bengali film director Kamaleswar Mukherjee was briefly detained, along with eight others - CPM leaders and workers - near Rashbehari Avenue on Monday while they were protesting against alleged vandalism at one of the party's book stalls. The vandalism, they claimed, took place on Saptami by Trinamool workers. Trinamool said the problem was between puja organisers and those who ran the book stall, and the party stays away from politics during festive days.
