At the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, 'Girls Will Be Girls', the debut production of actors Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, scooped two prestigious awards. Directed by Shuchi Talati, the film claimed the Audience Award for World Cinema Dramatic Competition, while lead actor preeti panigrahi earned the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting. Anirban Dutta's 'Nocturnes', a documentary co-production between India and the US, also secured recognition, winning the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award for Craft. 'Girls Will Be Girls' revolves around Mira, a teenager navigating her rebellious awakening in a Himalayan boarding school, with themes of maternal influence intertwined. Chadha and Fazal expressed gratitude for the unexpected response to their debut production, emphasizing the importance of diverse narratives. Talati described the film's success as personally rewarding, highlighting its resonance with audiences. 'Nocturnes', exploring the mysteries of the Eastern Himalayan forests, captivated viewers with its exploration of a hidden universe.
