Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri expressed frustration over the annual flooding of the Andheri subway during Mumbai's heavy rains, criticizing the government for the persistent issue. Heavy rains on Monday caused widespread waterlogging and halted local train services, leading to many cancellations. Agnihotri took to his official X account to sarcastically criticize the government's efforts, noting the subway's consistent flooding every monsoon. He wrote, "I have lived in Mumbai for 30 years. Everything sarkari fails but this subway never fails to flood. Despite every government’s promises, it doesn’t yield. Citizens suffer, they die, but who are they anyway… but mere statistics?" Following his post, many expressed concerns about the lack of accountability and effective solutions. One commenter remarked, "The government keeps promising and spending every year, but as long as they only act until the problem persists, it will never be resolved." Another noted the flooding has been an issue since the '70s, suggesting that elevating the subway might be the only solution.
