Hitu Kanodia, who will be seen in the upcoming Gujarati TV show Shyam Dhun Lagi Re, says that he is “excited about doing a Gujarati TV show after a long time.” The D-Town superstar, who has been a part of recent hits like Vashand 3 Ekka, shares, “It’s a lovely show based on the life of Narsinh Mehta (a renowned 15
th century poet who was a devotee of Lord Krishna) and I play the role of Krishnadas Mehta (Narsinh Mehta’s father).
It’s a very important cameo that is crucial to the story and I have always loved playing such strong characters. The best part is that Mona (Thiba Kanodia, his wife) is also a part of the show and shooting together after a long time made us nostalgic. After all, it was while shooting together that we fell in love and eventually got married. I am glad that Mona has started working again. In all these years, she was always offered films but said no to them as she wanted to focus on Rajveer’s (their son) upbringing. Out of the 45 films that she has done, we have starred together in 20 of them! The audience will soon get to see us together in a Gujarati film.”
He adds, “I had done the show Chhuta Chheda long back and it was an enjoyable experience. Also, I was a judge on Naach Maari Saathe, which was a reality show. Gujarati TV shows have always worked on very tight budgets but from what I can see now, things have improved a lot and technically, they are better now. For my upcoming show, I liked the special effects and I feel that despite the constraints, the makers are doing a good job. I have some exciting films lined up for release this year. I have a lot of expectations from Faati Ne?, as it will offer something unique to the audience. I also have an upcoming Bollywood film co-starring Suniel Shetty, Sooraj Pancholi and Vivek Oberoi. I am also shooting for a Gujarati film co-starring Sapna Vyas. The biopic on Naresh and Mahesh Kanodia (his father and uncle, respectively) remains my dream project and we will soon make a big announcement about its progress.”
